How Clipper groups its lighters
Clipper is the lighter brand of Flamagas, a company from Barcelona. Flamagas dates from 1959, and the first Clipper came out in the early 1970s (in 1971, according to Flamasats). On its own website, Clipper split the range into five groups: pocket lighters, covers, metal lighters, utility lighters for the home and replacement parts. Each group then comes in many finishes: solid, fluo, translucent, soft touch, metallic, crystal, nebula and printed. A new series with other artwork is therefore not a new model. The model sets the size and how it works; the series only sets the look.
The sizes below come from Clipper's official product sheets. The range changes over the years: not every model is sold in every country or at every moment.

Classic: Large, Medium, Pocket and Micro
This is the Clipper everyone knows: the rounded shape with the wheel on top. The four sizes work in exactly the same way. You refill them with gas, and the ignition unit (wheel, spring and flint) pulls out in one piece. The flame cannot be adjusted: Clipper describes a fixed flame valve with a stable flame of at most 30 mm. For the Large, an older sheet gave about 3,000 lights per refill.
Only the size differs. The Large is the tallest at 7.4 cm, the Medium is a little shorter and slimmer, the Pocket is as wide as the Large but shorter, and the Micro is the smallest. There is no pocket lighter called "Mini" in the official range. A "mini Clipper" in a shop is probably a Pocket or a Micro.
In our shop you will find the large Clipper Classic in many series, and the Clipper Micro. How to change the flint is explained in replacing a Clipper flint, and why that is possible in why the flint in a Clipper is replaceable.
Electronic and Electronic Jet Flame
These two have the Clipper shape in Pocket size (6.3 x 1.6 cm), but no flint and no wheel. You press a button and an electronic igniter does the rest. The Electronic gives a normal flame. The Electronic Jet Flame gives a jet flame that, according to Clipper, resists wind and can be adjusted. Both are refilled with gas. On clipper.com the Jet Flame is also sold as a set of four.
Metal: Large, Micro and Jet Flame
The metal Clippers swap the nylon body for a metal one. The Metal Large has the size of the Classic Large and works the same way: gas, flint and the removable ignition unit. Clipper offers it in silver, gold, rose gold, icy, matt black and printed finishes. The Metal Micro is the metal version of the Micro, 6.3 x 1.4 cm, also with a flint.
The Metal Jet Flame is 7.4 cm tall, with electronic ignition and an adjustable jet flame, so there is no flint. In our shop the metal flint models are under Clipper Metal, and the metal Jet Flame models under Clipper Jet.
Clippers in a cover: Pop, Cork and Metal
Here a regular flint Clipper sits inside a cover. The Pop Cover is a hand-sewn silicone sleeve; with it, the lighter is 7.4 cm tall and 2 cm wide. The Cork Cover has the same size with a cork sleeve. The Metal Cover wraps a smaller Clipper of 6.3 x 1.6 cm in metal. In all three you refill the gas and replace the flint as on a normal Clipper.
For the home: Minitube, Tube Plus, Tube and Wave
These are not pocket lighters but utility lighters for candles, the fireplace or the barbecue. A long neck keeps the flame away from your fingers. All four are refillable and, according to Clipper, have an adjustable flame.
- Minitube: the smallest, 11 cm long. In our shop it is the Clipper Mini Tube.
- Tube Plus: 18.6 cm, with the typical Clipper shape.
- Tube: 27.6 cm, with an on/off lock and a visible tank that shows how much gas is left.
- Wave: also 27.6 cm, with lock and visible tank, in three versions: Classic, Flexible with a bendable neck, and Wind Resistant. Clipper.com lists the Wave among its electric lighters.
Clipper.com also shows a Mediumtube, electric as well and with a long burner. Its size is not given there.
4-packs and other packaging
A 4-pack is not a separate model. It is four regular Clippers, each with its own design around one theme, sold together. Clipper itself sells sets of four, for example with football clubs or the Jet Flame in fluo colours. Our sets are under Classic 4-pack.
In shops you will also see Clippers in a gift box or tin. We did not find that kind of packaging in the official range: it is usually the retailer's own idea.
Which one suits you?
This list shows what exists, not what to choose. To find the Clipper that fits everyday use, the outdoors or a gift, read which Clipper lighter to choose. Refilling with gas is covered in how to refill a Clipper lighter, and the whole brand is under Clipper lighters.
